Essays by a VRWC Charter Member (11540 bytes)

From time to time, we members of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy take the time to put our thoughts on paper (well, into a computer, actually, but why quibble).   Some of these were written for class projects, some as letters (to the editor, to my congress-critter and Senators, to Our President), and some were penned just because I felt like writing that day.

I hope these will be both entertaining and thought-provoking.  (Actually, I would be happy if you find them other than boring).

A Color-blind Constitution?

Written for a multi-culturalism class at Robert Morris College, Pittsburgh, PA

Of all the problems in America today, the most troublesome, as well as the most persistent, is the deteriorating relationship between blacks and whites. Unfortunately, the very solutions that are supposed to ameliorate the problem only serve to exacerbate it. So how did we come to this situation?

Thoughts on Social Privilege

Another essay for that multi-culturalism class at Robert Morris

In America, social privilege has never really existed in the sense of an aristocratic model, as has traditionally existed in Europe, or a caste-based system, common in many parts of the orient. Where social privilege has existed, it was usually extended to rather small groups of individuals, and was based more on vocation than birth. The essence of America is that it is a land of opportunity based on merit, and not on birth.

We would love to hear from you. Complements, criticisms, questions, suggestions, and seriously scorching flames are all equally welcome.
